ORGANISERS of a major theatrical festival are calling on the public to get involved.

The Jabberwocky Market, a four-day celebration of theatre staged by the internationally acclaimed Battersea Arts Centre, will return to Darlington in May.

Its organisers are now looking for volunteers to help them create an event to top last year’s, which saw crowds of people enjoy a variety of performances held across the town.

The range of volunteer opportunities available includes ticket collection and ushering, artist support, press and marketing, filming and helping to run the festival hub.

The Jabberwocky Market Welcome Meeting, to be held at the Voodoo Café in Darlington on Thursday, April 3, will give potential volunteers the chance to meet the team and learn more about the event.

Meetings, including refreshments, will take place from 4.15pm to 5.15pm and between 6pm and 7pm.

The Jabberwocky Market, which will run alongside Darlington Arts Festival, will take place between Thursday May 15 and Sunday May 18. The Festival Hub in Darlington’s covered market will be open from Wednesday May 7.
