AN EVENT designed to encourage people to take up new hobbies and raise awareness of groups in Richmond will also be raising money for local charities.

The Hobbies Fair, in Richmond Town Hall on Saturday, November 16, from 2pm until 5pm will showcase some local organisations and help them to recruit new members.

Richmond Mayor Bob White, whose chosen charities for the year, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Garget Walker House, and the Black Rats (4th Mechanised Brigade), will benefit from the event.

He said: “This is an ideal opportunity for organisations to promote themselves, get more people involved in local clubs and societies.

“Artists will also be there to talk about workshops and classes they run the area – and many will be selling their wares so it is an ideal time to do some Christmas shopping.”

Those taking part include the Richmond Operatic Society, Bowls Club, Knitting Group, Embroiderers Guild and Richmond Leisure Trust, and the Emergency First Responders will be providing free blood pressure checks.

Admission is free with a donation box and raffle in aid of the mayor’s charities.
