YOUNGSTERS from Barnard Castle School have been chosen to play in the Lexus National Schools Rugby Tournament.
The school recently hosted the Independent Schools Lambs Northern Trial.
The event saw pupils from independent schools across the north of England send players to try out for an under-11s and under-13s Northern Independent School team.
Edward Lockwood, Guy Pepper and Archie Thompson were selected for the under-11s team. Freddie Lockwood and Max Pepper will join Caleb Ellis in the under-13s team.
The two Northern teams will attend the rugby tournament in March to play teams drawn from schools in the south-west, south-east and midlands.
Luke Monument, master in charge of rugby and housemaster, said: “We pride ourselves on developing junior rugby.
“It is a delight to offer our young men the opportunity to further their development with representative rugby.
“Gaining experience away from school will inevitably make our boys and subsequently our teams stronger.”
