AN EQUINE artist has created eye-catching mural for a Brompton-on-Swale pub with horseracing connections.
The Farmers Arms, close to Catterick Racecourse, run by Maria Cooper, has had a facelift to one of its lounges in the form of a large-scale mural of jockeys racing, painted by renowned equine artist Jacquie Jones from Newmarket.
Ms Cooper said: “My mum and Jacquie have been friends since they were 15 and both stable girls for Ian Balding.
“We wanted to do something a bit different in the pub to be a focal point for customers so I asked Jacquie to create the mural for us.
“She finished it in just seven hours during opening hours and we had a lot of interested visitors watching her work.
"We get a lot of people coming here after the races and it has proved to be very popular – people have been taking pictures on their mobile phones.”
