ART lovers have helped boost the coffers of Ripon's Poppy Appeal collections by more than £100.

To help boost funds, The Gallery gave a percentage of all art bought on a preview day to the charity.

The funds raised at the Modern Masters exhibition day, in the Kirkgate gallery, came to £130.

The owners also placed Poppy collection tins in the building.

Gallery owner Anna Arcidiacono gave the proceeds to the Ripon branch of the charity.

She said: "We are very pleased to have been able to help the Poppy Appeal with our artworks.

"We had an excellent response to our preview day at the beginning of November, and our customers have been generous in their own giving to the appeal too."

The Modern Masters exhibition runs until Christmas and includes signed original works by artists such as Joan Miro and Georges Braque.

Anthony Gormley, who created the Angel of the North, at Gateshead, will also have work on show.
