MORE than 100 cattle died in a barn fire in North Yorkshire earlier this week, it was revealed today.
Police say the cause of the fire at a farm in Snape near Bedale, remains unexplained.
101 cattle died as a result of the blaze which destroyed two barns, about 4,000 bales of straw and 1,000 tonnes of silage.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Police are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the fire, which was reported at about 4.20am on Tuesday.
Inspector Geoff Crocker of Bedale police said: “We must stress that the cause of the fire remains unexplained at this time. To assist the investigation, we are appealing for anyone who has any information which could help officers establish how it happened, to please get in touch.”
