THE case against a 26-year-old man accused of killing a school dinner lady in an alleged hit-and-run crash has been delayed for two days.
Alan Steel faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, failing to stop at the scene and failing to report an accident.
It followed the death of 32-year-old Paula Stead, who was killed when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 in St Lukes Road, Sunderland, on the evening of September 21.
Mrs Stead died and her only child, Bridie, 11, was injured, along with Danica Green, the ten-year-old daughter of her cousin.
Steel, of St Lukes Road, Pallion, Sunderland, was due to enter a plea at Newcastle Crown Court today but the case was put back until Thursday.
