TRAINEE hairdressers from Bishop Auckland have been competing for the right to represent their college in a regional contest.
The skills of 35 first and second year students from Bishop Auckland College were put to the test in the competition.
They were watched by professionals from the industry, and prizes were donated to winners by Salon Services.
Kevin Burns, from the college, said: "This event was organised to enable hairdressing students to perform under pressure and to have their work assessed by external people who work in local salons."
He added that the judges were impressed with the skills of the students.
Winners: blow dry - Bryan Johnson (year one); Faine Newton (year two); ladies colour - Claire Douthwaite; nightclub fever - Mandy Barker (year one), Simone Grimes (year two).
