QUESTION
Timmy has a habit of either not coming home or losing his way home. He will disappear for 6-10 weeks but will generally be found in a local street that backed onto a previous home. He has never been kept in all the tiome and I don't really want that. He was hit by car several years ago and Vet said may have affected his orientation. Any ideas?
Philip
ANSWER
Dear Philip,
Unfortunately cats often go wandering, especially in the warmer weather. It may well be worth a period of keeping inside, and training the cat to come for meals at set times each day, eg 8am/12 noon/5 pm and 10 pm. This would then get you into the habit of calling the cat, and him coming, when you want him to! Then you could try letting him out.
