FOUR cyclists have proved they will go the distance for charity.
Mark Watson, Andy Malone, Darryl Horner and John Allison have cycled more than 140 miles from coast to coast, raising more than £1,000 for the Daisy Chain charity that aims to open a respite care and support centre for families who have children with autism.
Mr Watson has a relative with the developmental condition and it was his idea, but his friends were quick to get on their bikes to join him.
It took them three days to complete the route from Whitehaven, in Cumbria, to Roker Pier, in Sunderland.
While their efforts raised well over £800, their employer, Lucite International of Billingham, chipped in to take the total past £1,000.
Matt Simpson, manager of the Norton-based Daisy Chain charity, said: "We are so grateful for the efforts of the cyclists and their support crew. It never ceases to amaze us, the lengths to which people will go to raise funds for Daisy Chain. We can't thank them enough."
