A COUPLE were warned that all sentencing outcomes remain possible after tarnishing their good character when they admitted drugs offences.

Graham and Margaret Theresea Oselton grew cannabis at their home in Burnopfield.

Durham Crown Court was told that a small amount of the class B drug amphetamines was also supplied among a group friends by Margaret Oselton.

It follows their arrest after the execution of a search warrant by police at the couple's home on Tuesday, October 4, last year.

Officers recovered eight cannabis plants in full cultivation, each said to have grown to about three metres high.

Two small bags containing an estimated 266g of amphetamine paste were also seized during the raid at the premises, in Hazelgrove.

It led the couple to facing a number of charges in relation to both the recovered amphetamines and cannabis.

Margaret Oselton, 43, admitted a charge of being concerned in the production of the class C drug, cannabis.

She previously admitted possession of amphetamines with intent to supply, and mere possession of the drug.

Graham Oselton, 38, previously admitted being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Tim Gittins, prosecuting, said the pleas and the basis of the pleas were now considered acceptable to the Crown.

"It's not, now, necessary to seek a trial on this issue.

"The guilty plea to the possession of amphetamines with intent is on the basis she was supplying a small group of friends and associates, and she has now pleaded guilty to the cultivation of the eight cannabis plants."

Barristers Brian Russell, for Margaret Oselton, and Henry Trory, for Graham Oselton, asked for probation service reports to be prepared on their clients prior to sentence, as both are of previous good character.

Judge Richard Lowden agreed to the request and bailed both, pending preparation of the reports, leaving all sentencing options open.

He told them: "Make sure you co-operate with the probation service.

"Do not assume there is any hint or promise as to sentence by the extension of bail."

The couple must return for sentence in the week of December 21
