A teenager was raped after going back to the home of a man she met in a pub, a court was told.
The 16-year-old claimed she was powerless to stop Kevin Chapman, 27, having sex with her in his front room.
Mr Chapman is said to have struck when two other people - a friend of his, and a colleague of the alleged victim - left to buy cigarettes.
The jury at Teesside Crown Court heard yesterday that the girl was weeping when the others returned to Mr Chapman's home in Hartlepool.
The girl and her friend left, had a sleep and then went back out to continue drinking on a bank holiday Sunday, the court heard.
Christine Egerton, prosecuting, said the girl told other friends what had happened, and off-duty officers in the pub were informed.
Miss Egerton said the teenager was taken to the police station where an examination revealed two lacerations - "consistent with what she said had happened".
Mr Chapman, of Harwich Grove, was arrested and admitted having sex with the girl, but claimed she had consented.
He denies the charge of rape on May 28, and the trial continues.
