A NEW advice service has been launched to help tenants make ends meet.
Housing for Hartlepool, which took over running the town's council housing in 2004, has joined forces with the West View Advice and Resource Centre to provide the free, independent service.
The aim is to reduce rent arrears by helping tenants tackle their debts and maximise their income.
Tenants who are referred to the service will be advised in confidence on their rights to support, such as housing and council tax benefits, and helped to claim their full entitlements.
Val Evens, manager of the centre, said: "We provide a service throughout the town with many partners and funders, and we are delighted to be working so closely with Housing Hartlepool.
"To make it easier for tenants to get advice, we hold out-reach sessions in various parts of the town, including The Headland, Chatham House, in Chatham Road, the Wharton Terrace annexe, Kilmarnock Road and Grange Road Methodist Church."
