SCRAP metal thieves are targeting farms in the county.
Since June 1, thieves have stolen more than £20,000 worth of metal goods from farms and businesses in the Hambleton area.
Items include copper cable, pig troughs, scrap plumbing and lead.
Police are urging farmers and businesses to take care.
PC Terry Triffitt said: "Scrap metal prices are good at the moment, especially copper.
"The same person who is capable of stealing your scrap is also capable of relieving you of anything else left lying around, and I would urge everyone to be careful."
