A NEW guide has cited North Yorkshire as the best place for children to explore a cave.

The National Trust’s 2013 list of “50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾” cites the Yorkshire Dales as the best place for youngsters to discover the fun of cave exploring.

The guide identifies the best places in the UK for outdoor adventures based on experiences recommended by children.

This year’s list includes 15 new experiences recommended by young people.

As well as exploring inside a cave in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire gets two other mentions on the list, including rock climbing at Brimham Rocks and making a home for wild animals at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, near Ripon.
