A MAN who died in a road smash near Whitby earlier this week has now been named by police.
Gary Paul Manders-Powell, who was 21, was killed in a single-0vehivcle smash on Tursday when the Ford Mondeo he was driving overturned and ended on its roof.
The incident happened on the Carrs, between Ruswarp and Sleights at around 6.35am and apolice are appealing for any witnesses to come foreard.
The dead man was originally from Middlesbrough and had moved to Whitby only recently.
Traffic Sergeant John Lumbard said: “It is believed that Gary had travelled towards Whitby from Middlesbrough prior to the collision.
“I am appealing to anyone who saw the green Ford Mondeo he was driving along the road between Middlesbrough and Whitby to get in touch as soon as possible.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision itself and has not yet contacted the police.”
