PEOPLE can find out about local and family history at the region’s biggest heritage event.
Yesterday Belongs To You will be held at County Hall, Durham City, on Saturday May 18 between 10am and 4pm.
The biennial event has been organised by the County Durham History and Heritage Forum, which aims to keep the past alive and to strengthen ties between local history groups.
The event will be opened at 10.30am by John Grundy the well-known television presenter.
Among the attractions will be more than 100 displays and stands featuring local and family history societies and traders offering local history books, postcards and prints.
Durham County Records Office will be opening its doors and tours will be available throughout the day.
Admission costs £1 and is free for accompanied children .
There will be refreshments and free parking.
