A motorcyclist in his 40's has died after his machine was involved in a collision with a lorry near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, this evening (Thursday, May 2).
The man, who lived locally, was declared dead at the scene.
The collision, involving a red DAF lorry and an orange and white KTM motorcycle happened at about 5.50pm on Moor End Lane, between Sowerby, Thirsk and Dalton.
The road will remain closed for some hours while traffic officers investigate the cause of the collision and the vehicles are recovered. Diversions are in place.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward without delay.
They also need information from people who saw either the lorry, which was heading towards Dalton, or the motorcycle, travelling in the opposite direction, before the crash.
