HUNDREDS of people donned their finest attire for a glamorous night of chart-topping music and spectacular seafood in aid of a North-East autism charity.

The inaugural Lobster Charity Ball at Hardwick Hall, near Sedgefield, County Durham, has been hailed as major success, raising more than £25,000 for Daisy Chain.

Nine hundred people attended the event on Friday, April 26, and were treated to performances by pop duo Go West, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Jonathan and Charlotte and comical ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.

Guests also enjoyed a fashion show and a delicious lobster surf and turf menu.

Matt Simpson, chief executive of Daisy Chain, an autism charity based in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees, said: “The ball was absolutely fantastic and it was a privilege for us to be connect to the event at all.

“To go on to raise £25,000 in one night is fantastic.”
