FOOTBALL fans backing Spennymoor Town’s quest for FA Carlsberg Vase glory have put up a huge banner in an attempt to persuade more people to make the long trip to this Saturday's (May 4) Wembley final.

Staff at DurhamGate, near Spennymoor, proudly displayed the banner outside of their office at Thinford roundabout.

They hope to generate more support from some of the 30,000 motorists who pass the spot every day.

The Northern League club has already sold more than 3,000 tickets for the game against Tunbridge Wells and it hopes to have 5,000 at the match.

Ian Beaumont, DurhamGate projects director, said: “We think it’s absolutely fantastic that Spennymoor have reached Wembley.

“It’s a wonderful achievement and we’d love to see them bring the FA Vase back to the North-East.

“It’ll be great to see so many people going to Wembley and we wanted to do our bit keep telling everyone about it.”

Paul Callaghan, Spennymoor Town director, said: “We’re trying to sell as many tickets as we possibly can and this banner will certainly help to do that.

“Awareness is the biggest things for us and with more than 30,000 people seeing this every day, it can only help.”

Tickets for Spennymoor's FA Carlsberg Vase Final v Tunbridge Wells cost £15 adults and £5 Under-16s and are available from www.TheFA.com/tickets or 0844-980-0656.
