TWO people were hurt after a horse and cart was involved in a car crash.
Police are appealing for information following the crash, which took place around 9pm on Thursday, at the junction of Front Road and St Luke's Road in Sunderland.
It appears that a horse was spooked when a car drove past it and sounded its horn.
There were four people in the cart, two of whom required hospital treatment after being thrown from the cart.
The car did not stop after the incident.
A 17-year-old girl was treated for a head injury and a 16-year-old boy was treated for an injury to his midriff.
Both were kept in hospital overnight for observation.
Police are working to trace the car involved and are asking that anyone with information contact the road policing unit in South Shields on the 101 non-emergency number.
