SUNDERLAND fans will be able to savour every moment of the club’s greatest triumph this summer.

May 5 is the 40th anniversary of the Black Cats’ historic giant-killing FA Cup win over the then-mighty Leeds United in the 1973 final at Wembley.

On Saturday June 15 the entire game will be shown on a giant outdoor screen at Herrington Country Park as part of this year’s Sunderland Festival.

Organisers Sunderland Live will hold an outdoor family film screening on Friday June 14t the FA Cup final the following day and a giant birthday party to commemorate Sunderland’s 21 years of city status on Sunday, June 16.

The FA Cup screening starts at 3pm and afterwards there will be live music until 8pm.

Chris Alexander, Chief Operating Officer of Sunderland Live, said: “Sunderland Festival will be a major free event on Sunderland Live’s calendar and we’ve developed a premium package for those that want to upgrade their matchday experience.
