SUNDERLAND AFC might have been poor on the pitch for much of this season, but three of the club’s former managers have been named among the game’s richest.

Roy Keane, Steve Bruce and Martin O’Neill all feature in the Sunday Times’ Sport Rich List for football managers, which was released today (Friday, April 26).

Keane, who coached the Black Cats from 2006 to 2008 having spent much of his playing career at Manchester United, is said to be worth £29m.

Since leaving Ipswich Town two years ago, he has worked as a television pundit.

He is second in the rich list – behind only Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who is worth £34m.

Bruce, another former Manchester United captain who bossed Sunderland from 2009 to 2011, lies seventh, worth £14m.

Martin O’Neill, who was sacked last month after 16 months in charge at the Stadium of Light, is worth £12m.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger is worth £29m, while Manchester City’s Roberto Mancini has £21m.

New Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio does not feature in the rich rundown.
