A WOMAN has been charged with committing two distraction burglaries on the same victim.
Anne Marie Varey, 50, is alleged to have entered the 82-year-old woman’s home on Geneva Street in Darlington as a trespasser and taken cheque books and £295 in cash on February 13.
She is also accused of returning to the same property on March 25 with intent to steal.
Miss Varey, of Brunton Street, Darlington, denied both burglary charges at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Thursday, April 11).
The case was adjourned until May 22 when it will be committed to Teesside Crown Court for trial.
Miss Varey was remanded in custody.
