A RENOWNED botanist will open his nationally acclaimed collection of Corydalis plants to the public this weekend (Sunday, April 14).
Brian Whitton, a retired Durham University professor, has hundreds of the plants, including species from all over the world.
He will open the garden of his home, at 74 Archery Rise, Durham City, on Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm.
Prof Whitton has been building up the National Plant Collection for 20 years.
He said he liked Corydalis because of the range of colours available.
“They’re very good garden plants but they’re largely untried. They have real potential,” he said.
Limited parking is available on the street. Visitors are advised to park elsewhere and walk.
