A MAN arrested on suspicion of a bomb hoax at his former employer Virgin Media has been released from police bail without further action.

Hundreds of employees were evacuated from the company’s two Teesside premises when the false report was made on Tuesday, March 19.

A 34-year-old man from Hartlepool was arrested in the Northumbria Police force area on suspicion of malicious communication.

The ex-engineer has now been told he will face no further action.

His wife, who did not want to be identified, said: “We have just got all of our things back from the police after being told that he will face no further action. We just want everyone to know that my husband had nothing to do with it.”

Cleveland Police received an anonymous report that a suspicious package may be located in a Virgin Media business premises on Teesside.

Three hundred staff from Virgin Media’s call centre on Preston Farm Industrial Estate, Stockton, were evacuated while officers and sniffer dogs searched the building.

The Virgin Media store in Cleveland shopping centre was also evacuated and taped off while it was searched.
