ABOUT 100 war widows from across the country have gathered in Durham for their annual conference.
The War Widows’ Association of Great Britain is holding its annual general meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel, in Durham City.
Members began gathering yesterday. Tonight, they will be entertained by the Military WAGS choir, from Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.
Tomorrow, John and Cynthia Wilkinson, the Mayor and Mayoress of Durham, will officially welcome the widows to Durham, ahead of the formal annual general meeting.
A formal dinner will be held tomorrow night.
Before the gathering ends on Monday, the widows will also visit local attractions.
The association includes widows who have lost loved ones in conflicts since the Second World War, along with during peacetime. For more information, visit warwidows.org.uk
