TWO talented singers from a north Durham youth club are celebrating after success in a regional singing competition.
Emily Boscher, 13, was the intermediate and overall winner of the Cleveland and Durham Youth Association contest with ten-year-old Jade Richards winning the junior section.
Emily, who is from Dipton and attends St Bede’s School at Lanchester, wowed judges last month with an Adele song while Jade, a Greenland Primary School pupil, from South Stanley, performed an Emeli Sande number.
Both girls are member of Oxhill Youth Club, near Stanley.
Youth leader Gail Wilson said: “They have both got absolutely cracking voices but they are quite modest about it.”
The youth club is also celebrating after 16-year-old Bethany Renwick won a photography competition organised by the Rotary Club of Stanley.
The New College Durham student’s shots of the Lake District will now be entered in the district level of the contest.
Mrs Wilson added: “We are delighted for her.”
