A 78-YEAR-OLD woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a mountain bike while walking on a cycle path.
The pensioner had been walking with her daughter on the newly-opened cycle path between Ripley and Bilton, Harrogate, at 4.15pm on Monday, April 1, when the incident took place.
The pair were walking towards Bilton - the same direction as the rider was travelling.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the woman was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
The cyclist fell off his bike as a result of the collision, but remounted and rode away.
He is described as white, about 50-years-old and balding, with dark hair. He was wearing a fluorescent jacket and dark trousers.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Traffic Constable Rob Roberts, of Harrogate Roads Policing Group on 101.
