AN Easter fun event will be held in Addison Park in Meadowfield on April 5 from 1pm-3pm to celebrate the installation of the new play equipment.

The official opening of the £60,000 equipment will be carried out by John Muirhead, chairman of the Friends of Addison Park.

The event is free and everyone is welcome and will include face painting, balloon modelling, Easter crafts, sporting activities, magician and an Easter egg hunt.

LADIES GROUP: The Thursday Club is an independent group for ladies of all ages to come together socially and enjoy an evening of entertainment or a day out.

There are talks, slide shows, days out to places of interest and celebratory meals. They meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7.45 pm in the small hall of Lanchester Community Centre.

MUSIC NIGHT: Dennis Locorriere, lead singer of Dr Hook, is bringing his Point Zero Tour to Consett’s Empire Theatre.

The show is on Saturday April 13 and starts at 7.30pm.

LET’S DANCE: A lively and fun-filled one day workshop for children aged eight to 11, featuring tunes, energetic dance moves and original choreography, under the expert guidance of professional dancer and tutor Kristin Kelly-Abbott is coming to the Lamplight Arts Centre in Stanley on Thursday from 10am-4pm.

RHYME TIME: A session for children and adult to sing nursery rhymes is held at Belle Vue Leisure Centre in Consett every Wednesday at 9.30am.

It is suitable for babies and toddlers aged three and under and costs £3 for the first child and £1.50 for a second child. Adults are free of charge.

ON SONG Lanchester Male Voice Choir meets at 7.30pm each Monday in the main hall of Lanchester Community Centre. All men are welcome and auditions are not required. Email lanchestercommunitycentre@yahoo.co.uk for more information.

WALK ON: Groundwork North-East has launched a new project aimed at local residents in the Stanley area.

The Walking in Stanley Project aims to involve local people in walking activities around the villages where they live and to help monitor Public Rights of Way (PRoW).

Stanley Area Action Partnership (AAP) will help identify short two to three mile walk routes from central locations.
