YOUTHS CHARGED: Two youths have been charged with attempted burglary after members of the public reported seeing someone trying to break into a house in Bartlemere, Barnard Castle. Police say the suspects will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court in due course.
BIKE POSER: Police are trying to trace the owner of a black and silver coloured Saracen Element mountain bike which was found abandoned in Front Street, Ingleton, near Darlington, on March 16, close to the site of an attempted break-in. Anyone with information should contact Barnard Castle police on 101.
CARNIVAL BOOST: Organisers of this year's Middleton-in-Teesdale Carnival have received a grant of almost £350 from the Teesdale Action Partnership to increase publicity for the event in the hope of attracting more people from outside the area. Carnival events begin on Saturday, July 20 and culminate with a procession on August 3.
BLOOMING GREAT: Seed and bulb planting are among the activities taking place at Evenwood Children's Centre, Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland, on Tuesday, April 9. Taking place between 10am and noon, there will also be an arts and crafts session. For details call 01388-830920.
