THE wonderful world of miniature railways was brought to life at a North-East museum over the weekend.
Hundreds of train fans of all ages headed to Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon, County Durham, for its latest two-day exhibition.
Model Motion - The World of Railways in Miniature featured railway modellers from across the North-East, as well as trade stands and displays organisations such as the North-East Meccano Society.
Visitors were also treated to a short ride on a steam train and members of re-enactment groups 501st UK Garrison and the Rebel Legion UK kept youngsters entertained dressed as Star Wars characters.
Seven-year-old Elliot Raper came all the way from Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear for the exhibition with his father, John, and four-year-old brother, Jake.
Elliot, who has his only model railway set, said he had enjoyed the event.
“The trains are excellent,” he said.
Mr Raper added: “Both of the boys love trains so we are regular visitors to the museum. It is a great attraction. We especially like to come for special events like these.”
