AN investigation is underway after a caravan became detached from a Land Rover on a busy North-East road.

A woman in her 60s driving a blue Ford Focus suffered minor injuries in the incident on the A688 in Bishop Auckland at about 9.30am today (Thursday, March 14).

The unnamed woman was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment but was later discharged.

A red Fiat van was also damaged in the collision but no-one else was injured.

Police closed the road for two hours while collision investigation work was carried out.
