A SNOOKER cue was used to hit a man who was then robbed in an unprovoked attack.
The 60-year-old victim was mugged while walking along a footpath linking Queens Avenue, Barnard Close and Georgiana Close in Thornaby, Stockton, at about 7.35pm on Monday evening.
He was later taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton, where he was treated for minor injuries to his head.
Cleveland Police is appealing for witnesses to the assault. “The victim was approached by a man who assaulted him with what is believed to be half a snooker cue which caused the victim to fall to the floor,” said a force spokeswoman.
“The suspect then took a quantity of cash from the victim.”
Officers are trying to trace a white male, aged in his early twenties, of medium build and wearing a dark hooded top which had drawstrings with the hood up.
Any witnesses or anyone with further information is asked to contact DC Lee McKinnell of Stockton CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
