TWO vehicles were found to be using illegal red diesel during checks carried out in Teesdale, County Durham, today. (Monday, February 25)
Officers from Durham's road policing unit were joined by their counterparts from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as they carried out checks on vehicles in Barnard Castle and Staindrop.
Two drivers received on-the-spot fines after red diesel was found in their tanks.
A spokeswoman for HMRC said the operation was part of routine checks working alongside the police.
A similar joint operation was carried out last week at Middleton-in-Teesdale.
