POLICE in a Weardale town have made tackling dog fouling one of their main priorities for the coming weeks.
Members of the Weardale Neighborhood Policing team will target the problem in the Demense Mill and Willows areas of Wolsingham after a meeting with the public.
A spokesman for the beat team said: “Residents have raised concerns over the amount of dog fouling in Demense Mill and in the area of the Willows in Wolsingham.
“We have now made this our priority and these areas will be targeted by police and council wardens.
“People found allowing their dog to foul these areas could be issued fines and may even appear in court.
“If you are a dog owner please be responsible and clean up after your dog.”
Information can be reported to the Durham County Council on 03000-261000 or contact the police team via the 101 number.
Alternatively visit the beat team’s Facebook page or attend a Police And the Community Together (Pact) meeting.
