JOB hunters are being invited to visit a bus where they can make radio show style CVs and create a webpage about themselves to show potential employers.

The big blue bus will visit five County Durham towns over the next ten weeks to teach unemployed people aged 19 and over a new way to make themselves get the attention of potential employers.

It is the first time the Moving On media bus has come to the area, but the organisers, Klarrati, hope it will help up to 80 people find work.

The bus, which is funded by Durham County Council, has been visiting the five towns to gauge public interest before starting the course properly on Monday (February 4) in Chester-le-Street.

The course runs from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 2pm although it is flexible.

At the end of their week-long course participants will have produced a short audio CV presented in the style of a radio show and have their own page on the About Me website which lists their skills, qualifications and experiences.

They will also have a qualification in job skills and have learned how to use radio software and web design.

Maret Mitchell from Klarrati, said: “It’s a fun way of producing a CV that will make someone stand out of the crowd.

“Imagine how great it would be to turn up for a job and be able to play your future boss a radio show about you and show them a webpage you have created about yourself.”

At the end of the course, which is run by tutor Lynn Watson, radio teacher Mick Davies and web trainer Nicol Craig, people will also be given advice on other courses and job opportunities in their area and a £20 Morrisons voucher.

The bus will be at the Burns Green Car Park behind the leisure centre in Chester-le-Street from Monday (February 4) and again for a week starting February 25.

It will be in Morrisons car park in Bishop Auckland for a fortnight starting on Monday, February 11, and in the Morrisons car park in Consett for two weeks starting on Monday, March 4.

The mobile unit will then be in Peterlee for two weeks before it spending its final fortnight outside St Catherine’s Community Centre in Crook starting on April 15.
