THE Archbishop of York visited a Middlesbrough school yesterday to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
John Sentamu was visiting the Unity City Academy, on Ormesby Road, to address staff, students and the local community.
He praised the Academy for its best-ever GCSE results last year which made it the most improved school in Middlesbrough.
Forty-seven per cent of students achieved five A*-C grades, nearly doubling 2011’s results, with 90 per cent achieving five A*-C grades overall.
The Archbishop said: “I pray that the class of 2012 will take that spirit of excitement and sense of possibility with them so that this Academy continues to bring hope to all who come here and to the whole of Middlesbrough.”
