REHEARSALS for an amateur production of Peter Pan in north Durham are underway.

Starset Theatre is planning to stage the show at the Assembly Rooms in Durham City in May.

The group has been running performing arts classes for children and young people, putting on shows since 2003.

Spokesman Elisa Hudson said: “Although there are many talented children in the group, there are so many parts in this show that we have plenty of spaces for any youngsters who fancy being Lost Boys, Pirates or Indians, or even trying out for Peter Pan, Wendy or Captain Hook.

“This will be a fantastic show, full of colourful scenery, costumes, thrilling fight scenes and featuring all the well-known and loved characters from the story, including Tinkerbell, the Crocodile and Nana the dog who is the children's nanny.

“The group gives youngsters the opportunity to develop their talents, improve their confidence, make new friends and have lots of fun as well as giving Durham audiences a chance to see young local talent on-stage.”

Rehearsals take place each Saturday morning at Bluecoat School, Newton Hall from 10am-1pm. Anyone interested can get in touch on 07932-645-495 or at www.starsettheatre.co.uk
