A WOMAN from Staithes, near Whitby, was airlifted to hospital after falling in the icy conditions.
The 49-year-old local woman injured her neck in the fall close to her home, and was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, after being treated by road ambulance crews at the scene, because road conditions were deteriorating.
She arrived at hospital within 11 minutes and paramedics described her condition as 'stable'.
The freezing temperatures are set to remain in North Yorkshire throughout the week, with forecasters predicting lows of minus three in some places, but much drier conditions.
