FORMER colleagues of a police officer killed whilst responding to an emergency call, travelled from Lancashire to hold a roadside vigil where he died.
With their heads bowed, members of Greater Manchester Police paid tribute to their former colleague, PC Andrew Bramma at the scene of the accident just outside West Tanfield, near Ripon.
The married father of two young children died on Saturday, January 9, when his patrol van left the road and hit a tree. He had only left the Rochdale division of Manchester police four months earlier, to join North Yorkshire Police.
PC Bramma had been responding to reports of a traffic accident at about 7pm on Saturday when the accident happened.
At the scene of the crash this morning his former colleagues added to the many poignant tributes to the police officer around the foot of the tree, where glass and paintwork from the accident could still be seen.
They also pinned to the tree their own obituary to PC Bramma, describing their fond memories of him, as well as leaving photographs, flowers and a police helmet.
