A NORTH-EAST cricket club is preparing to show off its new look, following a makeover.
Darlington Railway Athletic Cricket Club, which has members aged between five and 80 years old, celebrates its centenary in 2013.
The club competes in the NYSD Premier Cricket League, which recently became ECB-affiliated, meaning improvements to the club’s appearance became necessary.
Volunteers and club members rolled up their sleeves to transform the sight screens, fencing and scoreboard, revamping the facilities ready for the club’s upcoming centenary celebrations.
The revamp came courtesy of Dulux Decorator Centres, in Valley Street North, Darlington.
The team used brushes, rollers and black and white paint to revamp the facilities over a period of two weeks.
Club committee member Ian Pattison said: “We are extremely grateful for the generous paint donation.
“As the club has been in use for almost a century, it was generally looking shabby and some of the fencing had never even been painted before.
“Our club is at the heart of our community and we hope that now our facilities are up to scratch, more locals will join in and take to the crease in our centenary year.”
