HUNDREDS of school pupils got into the festive spirit with a Santa run in aid of charity today.
About 480 Year Seven and Eight pupils ran a mile cross-country course at Durham Johnston School, in Durham City, in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
PE teacher Julie Brown said, children had come dressed as Christmas trees and Santa – with the minimum fancy dressed allowed being a Santa hat.
The event was marshalled by Sixth Form students.
She said: “It is the second year we have held the event.
“St Cuthbert’s Hospice cared for two members of our staff who died of cancer.
“They were teachers Danny Swan and John Sinclair. The event is partly in their memory.”
