A CANCER charity founded by a singer battling breast cancer will open its new shop in her home town tomorrow (Saturday, December 15).

The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Appeal will open the doors to its shop in Willington, County Durham, at 11am.

The charity was founded in 2007 by club-singer Trish Greensmith under her stage name and has raised more than £100,000 to buy medical equipment for hospitals.

The equipment is used in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer, an issue close to Ms Greensmith’s heart.

She founded the charity while being treated for breast cancer and last year opened a cancer support centre on Commercial Street in Willington to help patients and families of people with cancer.

She had originally planned to open a shop elsewhere in the town earlier this year but it fell through at the last minute.

The shop, which is in the same building as the cancer support centre, will officially open with a buffet and drinks.

Ms Greensmith, who lives in Willington, said: “We have had some stresses over the past few months but I am delighted the shop will finally be open.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the charity this far and made this happen.”
