A VILLAGE school has won a free Christmas tree.
Cassop Primary School, in Cassop, County Durham, was given a six-foot Eiger artificial tree by B&Q, after pupil Adam Nattress won a competition to tell Father Christmas why his school was the most deserving of the prize.
The tree was delivered by B&Q staff dressed in Father Christmas costumes.
The school also won a £25 B&Q gift card so the tree could be decorated with baubles and lights.
Richard Lambert, duty manager at B&Q Durham, said: “We received some lovely letters from children who were all very enthusiastic about the competition prize.
“Cassop Primary School was a worthy winner with an entry from Adam Nattress stating that he would like to win the prize because it will add a festive spirit to the school Christmas play, plus they want to have carols around the tree.”
