A 92-year-old man, who has not been named, died after he was struck by a car in Windsor Terrace, Sunderland at 10.20am today (Friday, December 7). The pedestrian was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The accident involved three vehicles. Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police on 101.

WITNESS APPEAL: Police are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man was assaulted in Orpington Avenue, Walker, Newcastle, at 8.20am today (Friday, December 7). He was was taken to the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment for injuries and released after treatment. A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and a 41-year-old woman on suspicion of assault. They have been bailed pending further inquiries. AGGRAVATED BURGLARY: Three raiders burst into a house in Furzefield Road in Gosforth and tied up a woman, before stealing cash and items of jewellery. The incident happened at 8pm last night (Thursday, December 6). The woman, in her 60's, suffered minor bruising and was left shaken.
