Following the successful launch of their new brunch menu in 2022, The Forge is once again standing above and beyond its competitors as the new year progresses.

"We are an independant, family owned restaurant in the heart of Washington Village - serving up the highest quality, locally sourced, wholesome, fresh, seasonal British Food." - Kelly Kennedy, Co-Owner of the Forge

Situated in the cosy walls of a 400 year old, Grade 2 listed building, The Forge is an eccentric,  vibrant eatery that is continuing to showcase the very best of British Food.

This Gem of Washington Village is currently open from 10.30am - 10.30pm from Thursday to Saturday and 12pm - 7pm on a Sunday.

Taking its name from the Blacksmith's Forge that was once in its place, the restaurant's location has a rich history within the village. According to local legend, it is famed for its connections to the capture of the highwayman Robert Hazlit. The story goes that he was having his horse shod here by the local Blacksmith and was spotted by a local lad, leading to his subsequent hanging.

I spoke to a recent customer and asked them how they found their experience.

"The Front of House staff were very accommodating. I was really impressed with the steak I ordered. My parents recommended it to me and it's easy to see why" - Ben Tindle (17)

Also, I spoke to Kelly Kennedy - Co Owner of The Forge - about what she wants The Forge to bring to the local Village.

"Our team is committed to offering something different to the usual, creating a space in which our customers are valued and feel at home".

It is a testament to the quality of staff that work at the Forge that they are able to deliver such a high level of service within a small, often fast paced environment. Week after week, the restaurant brings a consistent stream of customers which is no doubt as a result of the "high standards'' set by owners Kelly and Wayne Kennedy.

Having spoken to Wayne, it shows that the enthusiasm and attention to detail that him and Kelly put into The Forge proves why it is such an exemplary local business - "It's great to be surrounded by very skilled and conscientious people who are committed to providing a fantastic customer experience".

You can see how the passion shared by Kelly and Wayne for their business is reflected on its employees as a new member of staff told me - "It's an extremely forward thinking organisation that puts the customer experience at the forefront of everything that we do".

The Forge is also grateful to employ an award winning head chef who is responsible for the seasonal menu that currently offers dishes such as Northumberland Venison as well as North Sea Haddock.

With such a well oiled team working under its roof, The Forge is continuing to bring customers through the door and impress them with its food. It is a reflection of the hard work put in by such committed owners and we can only wish The Forge the best of success for the coming year.
