It is a pictorial record of the resort in the 20th Century, from its heyday when attractions such as the Joy Wheel, left, drew the crowds, to the present day and the building of the new shopping mall in Park Avenue.
Much has changed, though not the weather: the main picture above is of a rain-soaked promenade in the 1930s.
