HANNAH HAUXWELL'S funeral took place on Friday in Barnard Castle following her death at the age of 91.
Her extraordinary story of endurance farming in the harshest of conditions 1,000ft above sea level in upper Teesdale amazed the world when she was found by television cameras in the early 1970s.
For 11 years, she had farmed 80 acres alone at Low Birk Hatt - an ancient name meaning "birch gate" - on the shores of Blackton reservoir.
Over the years, she appeared in TV programmes which charted her first trip to London and then overseas - she could even been considered the first reality TV star.
In 1988, she moved down the dale to modcons, such as central heating and running water, in Cotherstone.
Here are a few pictures from her extraordinary life.
