FIRST CUP OF TEA
First cup of tea of the day
The smell of new mown hay
Song of a bird in a tree
Crashing waves of the sea
Taste of fresh baked bread
The wonders of my Dad’s shed
A baby’s first little chuckle
Leather belt with silver buckle
Brand new socks to wear
My comfy old armchair
A rainbow in the sky
Clean shirts hung out to dry
Twinkly stars at night
Chocolate Turkish Delight
Shiny conkers in leaves
Crisp snow and frosty trees
Pebbles from the shore
All these things and more
The list is endless you see
Of things that make us
HAPPY!

DOG LOVERS EVERYWHERE
Who owns the dogs in Trimdon
That leave our street a mess?
Who walks their pets and just ignores
The piles of what – I’ll let you guess.
There are plenty of bins in Trimdon
In which to deposit what dogs must
do
So why leave it on the greens and
paths
And let it set there just like glue?
Bus stops and the shopping area,
Seems to be among the favourite
places
Where the dogs like to relieve
themselves
While their owners turn their faces.
So come on all you dog lovers
And do what you know is right
Please pick up the mess and take it
To where you can put it out of sight.
Dennis Grimley, Trimdon Village

SNOWFLAKES
White arrows in the darkness
Silver slivers in the night
A trillion silver spaceships
To change the world to white
White shrouded ghosts
Gleaming in the night
Their white shining skulls
Reflecting in their flight
White cloaks and turbans
Riding snow-white Arabian steeds
Dancing and prancing
At ever increasing speeds
A fleet of ghostly galleons
Sails decked all in white
Ghostly passengers waving
As they sail out of sight
A multitude of angels
Returning to mother Earth
Bringing home the message
Good tidings to the people of Earth
These are some of the images you
find
When you have snow-flakes on your
mind
